How long have you worked at Twisters?
This is my 6th year working at Twisters, and I’m so thankful to be part of a team that treats each other like family!
What inspired you to become a camp director?
What inspired me to become a camp director is the responsibility of looking out for each child—keeping them safe while ensuring they have the most fun possible from drop-off to pick-up. As a child, I attended American Twisters Summer Camp while competing as a gymnast, and some of my best memories are from this camp. I never wanted the day to end! My goal as camp director is to ensure that every child has the same—if not better—experience when they come to camp this year.
Why Kids Love Twisters Summer Camp: Unique Activities & Camper Favorites!
What Makes American Twisters Summer Camp Unique?
This isn’t like any ordinary summer camp. We provide a structured schedule from 8 AM to 3 PM, with an option for after-care until 6 PM. Whether it’s making new friends during open gym, working as a team in group games, or mastering a new skill in our gymnastics rotations, your child will never want summer to end! Our staff is highly trained, background-checked, finger printed and CPR-certified to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment. I personally communicate with my team each morning to discuss any important updates, ensuring that supervision and engagement remain our top priorities.
What Activities do your Campers Enjoy Most?
Some of our campers’ favorite activities include:
- Doggy in the Dog House – A fun partner game where kids pair up to create “dog houses.” As music plays, partners run around the circle, and when the music stops, they must quickly reunite and slide under their partner’s “dog house.” The last to do so is out!
- Ships and Sailors – A game filled with energy and quick reflexes, where campers must follow various commands like “Starfish!” (laying flat like a starfish) or “Row Boat with 4 People” (sitting in a line and pretending to row). Campers must think fast, so they’re not last!
We play a variety of games throughout the week, but these two are among the most requested!

Creating a Fun & Safe Environment
Every morning, I meet with my staff to go over expectations, address any concerns, and ensure that supervision is our top priority. We enforce three essential rules:
- Keep your hands to yourself at all times.
- If you have a problem, talk to a coach—we’re here to help!
- No sharing food.
Additionally, campers must ask a counselor before leaving the gym for any reason, whether it’s a bathroom break, water break, or grabbing a jacket. These guidelines ensure a fun, safe, and structured environment where kids can thrive! At American Twisters Summer Camp, we develop happy, healthy, and responsible kids!
Easing Parents’ Nerves
If you’re feeling nervous about sending your child to camp, don’t worry! Camp is an excellent way for kids to step out of their comfort zone, gain independence, and build confidence. Your child will make new friends, express creativity through arts and crafts, develop teamwork skills in group games, and enhance their gymnastics abilities during rotations. Camp isn’t just about fun- it also helps children grow physically, cognitively and emotionally in a positive, structured setting.

American Twisters Summer Camp has a profound impact on children. Every summer, I meet new campers and parents, some excited and others a little nervous. Regardless of their initial feelings, the most common feedback I hear is, “My kid is having a blast!” or “They don’t want to leave!”
The relationships built here create a safe and welcoming environment, often leading to campers enrolling in gymnastics classes after summer ends. Parents frequently ask if their child can join my class because they had such a great experience at camp! Our goal is to be more than just a camp- we strive to be a positive, inspiring, and enriching place where children feel at home.
