Year after year, Signing Day is a day of honor and pride where we celebrate and recognize the Twisters gymnasts who have achieved their dreams of earning athletic scholarships from some of the nation’s top universities. Team Twisters has a long and rich history of developing successful collegiate athletes for decades and we take so much pride in recognizing each and every gymnast who earns this prestigious honor and will join the ranks on the Twisters Collegiate Wall of Fame.
On Signing Day, Twisters staff and coaches, team gymnasts and their loved ones, all gather on the gym floor, decked out in school colors, banners and balloons – and celebrate our scholarship athletes as they sign their declaration and prepare for the next chapter in their gymnastics and academic journey.
As little eyes look up with admiration and grown eyes well up with pride, each gymnast gives a speech about their journey from tiny Twister to scholarship role model, thanking their families, coaches and teammates along the way. The Team coaches take turns honoring each gymnast for their hard work and great accomplishments, thanking them for being a part of our Twisters family. It really is a beautiful thing to witness, and one we look forward to each and every year at Twisters!
This year it was with great pride that Twisters celebrated our *three* scholarship athletes on Signing Day for the class of 2025:
Nina Ballou – Louisiana State University
15 years a Twister! – from a tiny tot to a Twister titan, Nina has given it her all throughout her Twisters journey, earning success as a 5x National Champion, three-time Nastia Liukin Cup Qualifier and now, a full scholarship athlete at LSU. GO NINA!
Jayla Booker – Rutgers University
12 years a Twister! We have watched Jayla grow and thrive through hard work and determination from a tiny Twister to a full scholarship athlete. Jayla is headed to Rutgers University where we know she will be not only an incredible gymnast, but an amazing addition to the Rutgers gymnastics family.
Genesis Bosque – Southeast Missouri State University
3 Years a Twister! Genesis joined the Twisters family 3 years ago and never looked back – now she’s only looking UP as she heads to SEMO as a full scholarship gymnast. We’re so proud of the hard work and progress she has made and can’t wait to cheer her on in her college journey.
Tears are always shed on signing day – sad tears because it’s always hard to see members of our Twisters family grow up and move on to bigger things, and because we will miss seeing their faces in the gym. We not only miss our gymnasts, but seeing their parents and siblings in the gym as well. But more than anything, Signing Day brings happy tears. Tears of pride and joy and seeing their hard work, dedication, perseverance and determination come to fruition in such a cool moment. To get to reflect on all the memories we’ve shared, all the trials and tribulations we’ve overcome together, seeing them grow up from a kid with a dream to a young adult who has made their own dreams come true.
This is what it’s all about. This is why we do what we do and why we care so much.
Seeing these girls step into their moment and own it. Nina, Jayla and Genesis – this is your moment. Your Twisters family is so incredibly proud of you, and we can’t wait to watch you shine in your next chapter.
